# US authorities seize Virtualine, a bulletproof host that accepted direct bitcoin payments

The FBI Washington Field Office and the US Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia seized the domain virtualine.net on 27 October 2026. Virtualine is a "bulletproof" hosting provider: it marketed its servers to criminals on cybercrime forums and promised to ignore abuse complaints and law-enforcement requests.

According to the Justice Department, the service allowed "illegal/black hat activities" such as phishing, carding, spam and port scanning. Prosecutors also accuse it of hosting a forum that sold child sexual abuse material. The investigation involved police in Germany (Polizei Hessen), the Netherlands and the United Kingdom (National Crime Agency). Dutch police seized dozens of physical servers in Limburg.

**Crypto payments:** Virtualine accepted direct bitcoin payments through unhosted wallet addresses. Chainalysis, which supported the investigation, says this let customers pay without triggering checks at hosted exchanges. The Justice Department says the provider then laundered the proceeds. Chainalysis links the payment addresses to ransomware operators, infostealer infrastructure and scam platforms.

The operator has rejected the child-abuse allegations in an open letter published on a new domain. Investigators have not announced any arrests.

For customers of crypto-paid hosting, the case shows that accepting bitcoin without identity checks draws close scrutiny from law enforcement and blockchain analysts. Hosts with a clear abuse and DMCA policy are the expected standard.
